Evasione is an illustration commissioned and specially created for the Tea Party organised by Varese Design Week, in collaboration with the Marcello Morandini Foundation.

To mark the closing of the C’È CARTA E CARTA exhibition that coincided with the conclusion of the ninth edition of Varese Design Week, the Marcello Morandini Foundation opened the doors of its garden for a day of celebration featuring art, performances, and convivial moments. The theme of the event was “Evasione“ (Escape), with installations and performances by designer Fabiola Rizzuti, artist-in-residence Dona Iren Bus, circus artist Francesca Alberti, and harpist Aurora Scarpolini.

The event concluded with an exclusive charity Tea Party, where tea was served in this limited-edition porcelain cup produced by Könitz Porzellan GmbH – Rosenthal Group. All proceeds were donated to the Il Pezzettino Association.

The illustration reflects the theme of Varese Design Week 2025, The Cage: it tells the adventure of a small rabbit, connected by a red thread and referencing elements and artworks experienced during the day at the Foundation. The rabbit, struck by arrows shot by two cherubs — echoing the Art Nouveau windows of the Villa — “escaped” from its cage and ran through the tea party, encountering the artist’s iconic works, such as the Alzano Embrace and the Foundation’s elevator (a visionary project admired by Maestro Morandini himself), before finally finding comfort in the loving arms of the cherubs.
